Pledge of Allegiance
Secretary’s report read, corrected and approved. Treasurer’s report read and approved.
Old Business
The ATV Club Holiday Party was discussed. The date has been set for
Saturday, January 10, 2009, to be held at the Pine City/Hinckley Flames Clubrooms in Beroun, MN. The starting time is 12:00 noon with a Potluck meal. There will be drawings for several gifts and prizes during the afternoon. Come on out, bring your family, bring a dish to share, and have a great time!
The cost to use the Clubrooms for the Holiday Party will be $50.00 - motion by Josh Mohr to approve and seconded by David Secord; motion passed.
There was a discussion about the ATV & Dirt bike Ice Racing proposal that was brought up at the last meeting. Terry Peterson checked with the Club’s insurance company and was informed that an event like that would not be covered. There was some more discussion of different ways to possibly make extra monies off the event to cover the cost of doing it the way that was originally suggested. Paul Janssen made a motion to pass on this event until a later date; motion was seconded by Wayne Secord and all agreed.
The Radar Run events were next on the Agenda. The first one will be held on
January 24, 2009 on Cross Lake, providing the ice is safe enough - otherwise it will be up at Maverick’s in Beroun. The second one will be February 21, 2009 at Maverick’s. Request for a member to chair the gathering of business sponsors for the event - Zach Motyl volunteered to take on the task. Deb Peterson, Wendy Bloom and possibly Lois Cornelius offered to help Zach get the sponsors. Kristie Drevecky made a motion for a $1000.00 budget to be set for all expenses, including advertising, food, etc., of both Radar Run events; seconded by Scott Cornelius and approved by everyone.
New Business
ATVAM has sent out email flyers concerning the attempt to break the current record for the longest atv parade again. This will take place June 5, 2009 up in Silver Bay, MN - check the ATVAM website or contact any Club Officer or Director for further information.
Les Bloom will be attending the 5th Annual ATVAM Summit meeting to be held on
December 13, 2008 at Michael’s Restaurant in St. Cloud, MN.
Les Bloom told of the upcoming Youth ATV Instructor training classes, especially the one to be held in Sandstone on
Saturday, February 21, 2009. There was much discussion of trying to get a class held here in the Pine City area, which Les will check out.
A tentative date for the Spring Youth Training class was set for
May 2, 2009. More information to follow.
A discussion of getting Safety First Aid Kits for the Club to use was next. Especially needed is one very good one for the tool trailer when we’re out cleaning trails and 2 more that will be available for when there are Club rides. Also a fire extinguisher is needed for inside the Snack Shack. A motion was made by Lois Cornelius and seconded by Deb Peterson to make the purchases. Marvin Monster to get prices for these and bring to the next monthly meeting.
The 501c3 paperwork is at Pangerl’s for review but it was noted that they most likely don’t have the final copy with the revisions typed in. A final copy will be done up by Hank Daniels and sent to Terry P. for delivery.
The Club asked Mark Mansavage if he would come to the meeting and tell the members about what road ordinances
Pine County and the City of Pine City have in place, that he knows of. The Club has decided that maybe a proposal should be given to the County Board of Commissioners requesting that atv riders be allowed to ride on the far right side of all county roads. A committee was formed to get the first paperwork started - members are Les Bloom, Terry Peterson, Jigger Cornelius, Hank Daniels, Scott Cornelius and Karen Brackenbury. The committee will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at the Pine City American Legion at 6:00 p.m. A rough draft will be ready for presentation at the January Club meeting. This is a proposal that could allow atv riding on county roads and possibly some city roads also. The Club is requesting that ALL Club members attend the County Board meeting and the City Board meeting when these proposals are presented. We will need ALL THE SUPPORT we can get - Let’s All Stand Behind the Club and help to get this passed! Further information will come when everything is decided. Please plan on attending!
Hank Daniels mentioned that the Club needs to purchase some specific safety gear for use with the newly purchased chainsaws. He also stated that he will be willing to give a safety demonstration to everyone.
Member-of-the-Month: Terry Peterson nominated Hank Daniels and Mark Mansavage seconded the motion - approved by all. Congratulations to Hank Daniels!
